چکیده

The dielectric response of graded composites having general power-law-graded cylindrical inclusions under a uniform applied electric field is investigated. The dielectric profile of the cylindrical inclusions is modeled by the equation i r =c b+r k where r is the radius of the cylindrical inclusions and c , b and k are parameters . Analytical solutions for the local electrical potentials are derived in terms of hypergeometric functions and the effective dielectric response of the graded composites is predicted in the dilute limit. Moreover, for a simple power-law dielectric profile i r =crk and a linear dielectric profile i r =c b+r , analytical expressions of the electrical potentials and the effective dielectric response are derived exactly from our results by taking the limits b→0 and k→1, respectively. For a higher concentration of inclusions, the effective dielectric response is estimated by an effective-medium approximation. In addition, we have discussed the effective response of graded cylindrical composites with a more complex dielectric profile of inclusion, i r =c b+r ke r. © 2005 American Institute of Physics. Springbackward Phenomenon of a Transversely Isotropic Functionally Graded Composite Cylindrical Shell

This study provides an approach to predict the springback phenomenon during post-solidification cooling in a functionally graded hybrid composite cylindrical shell with a transverse isotropic structure. Here, the material properties are given with a general parabolic power-law function. During the theoretical analysis, an appropriate transformation is introduced in the equilibrium equation, whi...

Effects of Power-Law Distribution and Exponential with Uniform Pressures on Vibration Behavior of Reinforced Cylindrical Shell Made of Functionally Graded Materials under Symmetric Boundary Conditions

In this paper, the influence of the constituent volume fractions by changing the values of the power-law exponent with uniform pressure on the vibration frequencies of reinforced functionally graded cylindrical shells is studied. The FGM shell with ring is developed in accordance to the volume fraction law from two constituents namely stainless steel and nickel. These constituents are graded th...

Effective nonlinear optical properties of composite media of graded spherical particles

We have developed a nonlinear differential effective dipole approximation ~NDEDA!, in an attempt to investigate the effective linear and third-order nonlinear susceptibility of composite media in which graded spherical inclusions with weak nonlinearity are randomly embedded in a linear host medium. Alternatively, based on a first-principles approach, we derived exactly the linear local field in...

Calculation of Natural Frequencies of Bi-Layered Rotating Functionally Graded Cylindrical Shells

In this paper, an exact analytical solution for free vibration of rotating bi-layered cylindrical shell composed of two independent functionally graded layers was presented. The thicknesses of the shell layers were assumed to be equal and constant. The material properties of the constituents of bi-layered FGM cylindrical shell were graded in the thickness direction of the layers of the shell ac...

Vibration analysis of functionally graded cylindrical shells with different boundary conditions subjected to thermal loads

In the present work, study of the vibration of a functionally graded (FG) cylindrical shell made up of stainless steel, zirconia, and nickel is presented. Free vibration analysis is presented for FG cylindrical shells with simply supported-simply supported and clamped–clamped boundary condition based on temperature independent material properties. The equations of motion are derived by Hamilton...
